Progress for two county sewerage schemes

Approval has been granted for the seeking of tenders for the design, build and operation of Milltown and Claregalway sewerage schemes.

Paul Connaughton says Minister Phil Hogan has given the go-ahead for the projects.

He says progress on the long awaited schemes will help preserve water quality standards in the area.

The project is being funded under the Departments Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2013 at an estimated cost of 10.68 million for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Build Operate contract and 2.87 million for the Network contract.

Galway County Council will now advance the DBO contract to construction.
