PRISON SENTENCES FOR COUPLE WHO BLACKMAILED PORTUMNA PRIEST

A Romanian man and his Irish wife have been given prison sentences for blackmailing a Portumna Priest for 24,500 euro over a 2 year period.

They did this by using an incriminating video they claimed to have of the priest in a sexually compromising situation.

Petre and Margaret Zsiga of 81 Seacrest, Knocknacarra pleaded guilty at Galway Circuit Criminal Court to demanding money from Fr Brendan Lawless of Clonfert Avenue, Portumna.
