A 36 years old heroin addict has been sentenced to three months in prison for the attempted armed raid of a bookie shop on Mervue in July last year

David Hickey, of Pearse Street, Dublin, and with a former address at Emmet Avenue, Mervue was before Galway District Court

He pleaded guilty to the possession of a replica handgun and a set of knuckle-dusters with intent to intimidate staff while attempting to rob Mulholland’s bookmakers in Mervue
