A 24 year old van driver who went on a drink-fuelled rampage at Lidl and Argos has been sentenced to prison for four months and put off the road for a year.

David Feeney with an address at 50 Monivea Park, Galway, pleaded guilty at Galway District Court to causing nearly 1,300 euro worth of damage to both shop fronts on September 25 2005.

Galway District court heard that David Feeney drank two bottles of whiskey before ramming the shop fronts of Lidl and Argos on September 25 2005.

He then took a power drill from the back of his van, breaking the rest of the windows.

The 24 year old failed to appear in court subsequently and a bench warrant had to be issued for his arrest.
