PRISON FOR ABUSE TO GARDA AND DRIVING OFFENCES

A Newcastle man has been given sentences totalling nine months and has been disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to driving without insurance on two occasions this year, and to obstructing a Garda in September.

Galway district court heard 19 year old John Ward of 50 Gaelcarrig Park put the keys of his van inside his trousers when the female garda told him she was seizing his uninsured van and asked him for the keys.

He also warned Garda Melissa Nallen that her colleagues in Salthill would have to put on a lot of extra night patrols as he planned to do a lot of damage following this incident.
