Primary Care Centre to be built on site in Westside
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – The HSE West has agreed to build a Primary Care Centre on a site in Shantalla.
The organisation said that it hopes to lodge a planning application in the coming months for the new facility on a site at the corner of Seamus Quirke Road and Rahoon Road.
Last August, the Galway City Tribune revealed that the HSE West was in discussion with businessman and former mayor, Mícheál Ó hUiginn, the owner of about 9.5 acres of vacant land off Seamus Quirke Road.
At the time, the HSE said it had not purchased the land, but it was in discussion about using part of the site for primary care.
Last week, in response to a query from Councillor Martina O’Connor (Greens), the HSE West said it had approved a transaction that green-lighted the development to proceed to planning.
