The evenings may be getting longer, but truly redemptive rock ‘n’ roll has never shied away from the night.

Ever since they sang “I’m getting outta darkness/My light shines on”in 1991’s Movin’ On Up, Primal Scream have been making music that is both edgy and uplifting. The iconic rockers make a welcome return to Galway when they play Leisureland on Saturday, October 26.

Their Galway show is part of an ongoing world tour in support of their new album More Light, and to promote the event, lead singer and founding member Bobby Gillespie is doing a press morning. How has it been going so far?

“I’m just starting, so it’s been good so far – in a couple of hours I’ll be ‘aaaggh!” he laughs.

More Light gets off to a roaring start with 2013, with Bobby lamenting that ‘punk rock came and went and nothing changed’, a lyric that sees him reconnecting with the music that inspired him.
