Fr Ray Flaherty says it’s hoped the investigation into the deaths of two fishermen off the north Connemara coast yesterday will provide answers to the grieving famillies and communities.

36 year old father of two,Tony Coohill and 58 year old father of six, Fechine Mulkerrin, both from the Claddaghduff area, drowned off Omey Island yesterday.

The men had set out to check lobster pots in a motorised currach in the morning.

The alarm was raised when another local fisherman noticed the boat on rocks shortly after 11am.

The Marine Casualty Investigation Board will carry out an inquiry into the double drowning.
