PRESSURE ON GALWAY BASED DEVELOPER OVER MAYO STRUCTURE

The High Court is being urged to order Galway based property developer Joe McNamara, known as the Anglo avenger, to demolish a stonehenge-type structure on Achill Island.

Joe McNamara of Dún na Carraige, Salthill, Galway is the man who was arrested for driving a cement mixer up to the gates of Leinster House in a protest against Anglo Irish Bank.

The 41-year-old was jailed for several days by the High Court last December for contempt of an order prohibiting any further work on ‘Achill-henge’.

The structure is intended as a ‘place of reflection’ on Achill Island.
