PRESIDENT PRAISES OUGHTERARD COMMUNITY SPIRIT

President Mary McAleese has praised the people of Oughterard for their spirit of volunteerism.

It was the first function of a packed itinerary during her visit to the county today.

President McAleese began her trip with a visit to the community centre in Oughterard at 11 o’clock where she met with over 30 community groups and several hundred volunteers.

She also visited the pupils and staff of Scoil Náisiunta Tuairiní in Moycullen at midday.
