President of Ireland attends Galway races
Galway bay fm newsroom – The President of Ireland is attending the Galway races today.
Michael D.Higgins and his wife Sabina are in Ballybrit for Galway plate day, one of the two original days of the now expanded summer races festival.
Despite the heavy rain and a weather warning issued by Met Eireann the races are going ahead as planned.
Minister of state at the Department of agriculture Tom Hayes TD earlier attended the Irish thoroughbred breeders association awards.
Meanwhile, Michael D.Higgins and Sabina will be guests of honour at the PJ Conlon festival this Friday night.
PJ Conlon was a Milltown musician, who emigrated to America in the 1900s, and had an illustrious recording career.
