PRESIDENT HIGGINS YET TO RESPOND TO GALWAY CIVIC RECEPTION INVITATION

President of Ireland Michael D.Higgins has yet to respond to an official invitation to attend a civic reception in Galway next Monday.

County council officials wrote to the President’s office weeks ago to request he attend the event in his honour at county buildings.

It was mooted that the event take place at this month’s county council meeting however the President has YET to issue a response on the matter.

Michael D.Higgins underwent knee surgery at the Bon Secours Hospital in Renmore last month and was discharged just two days before Christmas.

Mayor of County Galway, Michael ‘Mogie’ Maher says that even if the President doesn’t make the event this month, he is confident he will attend at a later date.
