PRESIDENT HIGGINS TO CARRY OUT TWO DAYS OF ENGAGEMENTS IN GALWAY

President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins will be in the city tomorrow to greet teachers from all over Europe for the launch of a school partnership.
It’s just one of a series of engagements the President will take part in during his visit to Galway.
President Michael D. Higgins begins his visit to the city tomorrow morning at 11:30 at St Michael’s Boys school in Mervue, where up to 200 pupils are based.
There, the President will launch the first meeting of the Comenius school partnership, which involves European schools working together on projects that encourage intercultural exchange.
The President’s next engagement is at 12:30, with a visit to Galway Educate Together National School in Newcastle.
The school was recently awarded its fifth green flag for its participation in the Green Schools programme.
At 2:30, Michael D.Higgins will attend Mercy Secondary School at Newtownsmith to mark the schools 75th anniversary.
His final engagement in the city tomorrow evening is at 7:30 when the President will perform the official re-opening of An Taidhbhearc Theatre.
On Saturday, he will attend the final ‘Being young and Irish’ regional workshop at the Bailey Allen Hall in NUI Galway.
