Premier League scouts set for Umbro Cup

THE Umbro Galway Cup is without doubt the premier event of its type in the Republic of Ireland and the fifth event is just one day away. This year’s event will run from tomorrow, Wednesday, until Saturday at Drom, home of Salthill Devon.

More than fifty teams will take part over six competitions during the week, in what is the most competitive Galway Cup to date.

Salthill Devon decided about six years ago that they would initiate a tournament that would be of international calibre. This decision was drvien by the club travelling abroad over a twenty year period to various events; trips which kindled the ambition that when there were facilities available the club would step up run their own tournament.

The advent of Drom Soccer Park allowed that ambition to be turned into a reality and so the Umbro Galway Cup was born. They were fortunate from day one to have the support of Umbro, a world renowned name in Sports apparel. They too have the vision to see that this tournament would grow in stature.
