Potential investment properties in Galway City attract strong interest

Sales totalling around €6 million were recorded at a property auction in Galway at the weekend.

According to auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan, the majority of the interest at Friday’s event was in properties in Galway City.

He said that 300 people attended the O’Donnellan & Joyce auction, with more than 40 properties going under the hammer.

“There was exceptional interest, with great value for money in the city,” he said.

Highlights of the afternoon included a four-bed family at Knocknavody, Furbo which sold for €475,000 and another family home in Truskey West, which sold at €417,500.

A four-bed detached house at 45 Wellpark Grove in Galway, which had an Advised Minimum Value of €200,000 saw bidding open at €180,000 before it sold for €230,000.

A ‘blank canvas’ in need of refurbishment at 60 Newcastle Road in the city (AMV €185,000) saw bidding open at €185,000, before selling after 15 bids for €250,000.

No. 6 Century Apartments at Emerson Avenue is Salthill, a two-bed unit, was chased by a number of interested parties. Bidding opened at €170,000 and after 21 bids, the hammer dropped at €225,000. The AMV was €175,000.

‘Aisling House’, a commercial unit with 4 one-bed flats overhead at St Augustine Street (AMV €350,000) was chased by three bidders. Bidding opened at €330,000 and it sold to a phone bidder for €470,000.

2 Barr na gCurrach in Furbo, a three-bed bungalow on the sea side of the village, sold for €254,000. It’s AMV was €285,000 and bidding opened at €230,000. No. 206 Bluebell Woods, a four-bed detached house in Oranmore, saw bidding open at €350,000 and it sold for its AMV of €385,000.

A large four-bed detached house set on a half-acre at Truskey West, Barna, with an AMV of €375,000 was withdrawn from auction at €390,000 and it sold after the auction for €417,500.
