POTENTIAL FOR FURTHER MEDICAL TECNOLOGY RESEARCH INVESTMENT AT NUIG

A major funding boost into research and development at NUI Galway could make for faster rehabilitations of patients and reduce the cost of health care.

That’s according to the President of Surgical Devices at medical devices company Covidien, Scott Flora, who will formally announce funding of 900 thousand euro for two R and D programmes this afternoon.(2PM)

U.S Company Covidien, a world leader in medical devices and healthcare products, employs 15 hundred people in Ireland.

Health Minister, Mary Harney, will be in attendance at the announcement of funding for the two Galway projects at a ceremony in Dublin this afternoon.
