Oncology services at Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe will remain in place.

The assurance comes following a series of meetings between HSE west management and staff from the hospital last evening.

Last month, staff at the oncology unit at Portiuncula were told it would be closed as part of the HSE’s cost cutting plan.
