Galway Bay fm newsroom – Independent TD Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan is on track to win a seat in the European elections.
A Millward Brown survey for the Irish Independent polled 1,500 voters across the three European constituencies this week.
According to the figures, Fianna Fáil is in danger of failing to win a seat in the Midlands North West constituency, as its candidates Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher and Thomas Byrne are dividing the party vote.
Sinn Féin’s Matt Carthy is in the lead for a seat in the Midlands North West on 19pc, followed by Deputy Flanagan on 15pc.
Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness’s 13pc puts her well ahead of her running mate, MEP Jim Higgins, whose support has dropped to 6pc, according to the survey.
Independent MEP Marian Harkin remains on 12pc and remains the most popular candidate for second preference votes.
The 4-seat Midlands North West constituency was created as result of boundary changes made last year, and includes 15 counties, including County Galway.
