Polish man charged with murder of Kieran Cunningham

A HOODED Alexander Nadwodny was greeted by jeers and boos as he emerged froma special sitting of Galway District Court yesterday, having been remanded in custody charged with the murder of Kieran Cunningham last month.

In a packed – yet eerily silent – courtroom 2, family and friends of the slain man sat just feet away from the 27 years old accused, of no fixed abode. Between two senior Gardai, he sat in the custody area and kept his head lowered as he waited the arrival of Judge Mary Fahy.

Dressed in dark clothing, his head had been shaved since the photo released for the public appeal had been taken.

The swearing-in of a Polish interpreter was followed by evidence of arrest, charge and caution, given by Inspector Michael Coppinger of Galway Garda Station.
