Plutonic Dust reach for stars with electro-pop

Up-and-coming electro-pop quartet Plutonic Dust will play Monroe’s Live next Thursday, February, 12. The band are Patrick McAdam (drums, synth, guitar), bassist Kevin Mc Knight, guitarist Ciarán O’Shea and singer Veronica Moran.

“Me, Ciaran and Paddy all grew up in Finglas,” says Kevin about the background to the group. “We were all playing GAA together, and got into alternative music at around 14 or 15. Ciarán picked up the guitar, I picked up the bass and Paddy was playing guitar as well.”

Since then, the lads have clocked up almost 15 years of playing music together, but Plutonic Dust is a relatively recent project.

It started after their previous project Inter Alpha broke up.

“We just weren’t happy with the way it sounded,” explains Kevin.  During a brief hiatus when Ciarán went to Canada and Kevin worked as a chef, Paddy continued to produce electronic music.  The lads started jamming together and when Paddy received an email from Veronica Moran, Plutonic Dust got off the ground.

“We had the advertisement up for about a year,” Kevin says.  “Then Veronica got on to Paddy and recorded a few vocals. I think it was a month or two before we met up with her. We organised a gig in Sin É [in Dublin], which was a bit of a comeback for us. We hadn’t played in about six months. It sounded really good and Veronica was happy, so we kept it going from there.”
