PLANS TO MERGE GALWAY HOUSING AUTHORITIES DUE SHORTLY

Galway City and County Councils could lose their housing powers under new proposals by the Government.

The move would result in the housing departments of city and county councils around the country being merged to save money and become more efficient.

According to today’s Irish Independent, the Government plans to set up regional housing authorities, which will arrange to lease and rent new homes.
