A 300 million euro gas powered electricity generating plant planned for Derrydonnell is causing controversy

Seán Quinn has an agreement with Coillte to acquire 40 acres of land in Derrydonnell subject to planning consultation

However, locals say they have not been consulted about any plans for a power station

The proposal for the power plant is currently being assessed by An Bord Pleanála to see if it falls under the remit of the Strategic Infrastructure Bill which was established earlier this year

Technical Director with the Quinn Group, Ciarán Leonard says the plans are only in the early stages and that they will be happy to have a public consultation on the matter…
