Plans to build houses in Portumna have been stopped in their tracks.

Galway County Council is refusing to allow D. Connolly build 10 houses and 4 apartments at Church road.

The project would have included the demolition and rebuilding of the existing outbuildings at Abbey Street, which are protected structures.

In refusing permission for the development, planners state that it would be an overdevelopment of the site and private amenity space would be seriously limited.
