It’s the end of the line for almost two hundred public phones in Galway.

Eircom is disconnecting and removing over two thousand of the remaining 4,800 public phones dotted around the country, starting in April.

Today’s Irish Independent is reporting that 192 public phones will be removed from Galway, the third highest number in the country.

Fine Gael’s Community and Rural Affairs spokesperson Mayo TD Micheal Ring denounced the move as an attack on the poor and people who live in the Irish countryside.
