PLAN TO PRESERVE ATHENRY TOWN WALLS

A conservation and management plan is to be prepared for the historic Athenry Walls

Galway County Council working in partnership with the Heritage Council has commissioned consultants with conservation expertise to prepare the plan

Gifford Consultants plan to evaluate the state of the Walls and how the town’s residents and visitors use or might use the historic landmark

Gifford consultants will attend a forum at the Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry this afternoon between 4 and 7pm to meet with anyone who owns land or property near the Athenry Town Wall
