Plan to address Ballyloughane water concerns to be presented in October
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A proposal to address contamination concerns at Ballyloughane beach in the city is to be brought forward in October.
It follows a meeting organised this week by Galway West TD Noel Grealish and the Head of Operations and Maintenance at Irish Water.
‘Do not swim’ notices were posted at the amenity last Tuesday, however the ban has since been lifted.
A meeting with the Head of Operations and Maintenance at Irish Water Ray O’Dwyer was convened this week to discuss the matter.
It was agreed that extensive testing and research is to be carried out before the end of September in a bid to identify the problem.
Cllr Terry O’Flaherty says Irish Water has agreed to fund any remedial works identified.
