Plan for 150 new homes on site in Rahoon
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Plans have been drawn up by a development company – backed by some of the biggest financiers and investment funds in the world – for the construction of more than 150 homes on a site in Rahoon.
Cairn Homes has applied to An Bord Pleanála for permission to build 151 houses and apartments and a creche with 40 childcare spaces on a 10-acre site on the southern side of the Letteragh Road, which surrounds the Breacán estate.
The plans also include 280 carparking and 173 bicycles spaces.
The development would be accessed from the Letteragh Road and from Bóthar Diarmuida, which runs from the Rahoon Road and links Rosán Glas and Bun a Chnoic.
According to the proposal, a ley factor in the development is the provision for a major link road along the western boundary – the N59 link road is proposed as part of the Galway City Ring Road project, which is currently the subject of several High Court challenges.
Under the legislation, applications are decided within a 16-week time period (August 2 is the decision due date for the Rahoon application), and members of the public now have until next Monday (May 16) at 5.30pm to make a submission directly to An Bord Pleanala.
