Pints to flow again as two Galway City pubs change hands
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – The sale of two well-known pubs in the city has been agreed following ‘strong interest’ from prospective buyers.
Both Murphy’s Bar on High Street and Kelehan’s Bar in Bushypark have been marked ‘sale agreed’ by their estate agents – with both deals set to be concluded within weeks.
Murphy’s, a landmark property in the city centre, went on the market last summer with a reserve price of €1.8 million and selling agents Cushman and Wakefield confirmed to the Galway City Tribune this week that a buyer had been found.
Meanwhile, Joe Greaney of Keane Mahony Smith confirmed that a deal was almost done on Kelehan’s on the N59 – and was due to conclude within weeks.
“There was a lot of interest in Kelehan’s because it’s a unique property. There’s no pub around it; it’s on the periphery of Galway City near the hospital and the university; there’s an abundance of parking; and it’s in a great location overlooking the Corrib,” said Mr Greaney.
He said he was ‘very happy’ with the sale price, which was above the €850,000 asking price and confirmed it was a local buyer in Galway.
