PIETA HOUSE TO FORMALLY ANNOUNCE TUAM LOCATION

Suicide prevention centre Pieta House is expected to formally announce the location of its new centre in Tuam in the coming weeks.

A house in the centre of Tuam is now the preferred location, after HSE sites including the Toghermore campus were ruled out.

If it all goes to plan, the centre will be in operation by the end of the year and will offer support and assistance to people in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

A major fundraising drive to support the centre is still underway, and to date thousands of euro has been donated from people all over the west of Ireland.
