Philip’s Culture Night project offers people their ‘day in court’

Composer, musician and vocalist Philip Fogarty is offering people an opportunity to have their day in court – on Culture Night, Friday September 18!

It’s courtesy of Three Dream Echo, an interactive show which he’s presenting from 8-10pm at Galway Courthouse that night.

It continues a series of live events by Philip, in which he invites the guest to participate in the sound-making process, as simultaneous listener and performer.

Referencing the fact that music has been with us since our ancestors sat by their campfires in the Pleistocene Epoch – which predated the most recent Ice Age – Philip is inviting people to an “information-age campfire” where he’ll take up and respond to the sounds and movements of guests with some help from technology, both for audio and visuals.

“Part AI, part human, part dream,” is how he describes Three Dream Echo.

Philip’s music runs the gamut from his roots in Irish traditional to rock, electronica and contemporary, and has featured in installations, soundtracks and theatre at home and abroad.  He has toured his original work with live ensembles in various configurations. Recent projects include I Claim Sanctuary, a sound installation due to be staged later this year in conjunction with Paper Boat, an opera presented by Music for Galway in association with Irish National Opera.
