Dublin rock band, Kodaline, who played two sell-out shows at the 2015 Galway International Arts Festival, will return to the Arts Festival Big Top this July.

The mega-popular outfit come to Galway having played some of the UK’s biggest venues in 2017, including Glastonbury, where they treated fans to their new single, Brother.

Brother, which was produced by Steve Harris and Two Inch Punch, with long-time collaborator Johnny McDaid (Snow Patrol) as executive producer, and mixed by Spike Stent, is the first taste from their forthcoming album.

Kodaline, made up of singer Steve Garrigan, guitarist Mark Prendergast, bassist Jason Boland and drummer Vinny May, featured on Kygo’s global hit Raging last year. For their own next album, they have worked with a variety of different writers and producers, including pop guru Wayne Hector, Jonny Coffer (Beyonce, Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy and Two Inch Punch, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Sam Smith). It will be their first full-length release since 2015’s Coming Up for Air, which went gold in the UK.

Coming up for Air followed their 2013 debut album, In A Perfect World, which was a massive success. The multi-platinum-selling release reached the Top Three in Britain, spent nine weeks at Number One in Ireland and won fans in Europe and the US.

One of the singles from that album, All I Want, has appeared on a number of successful TV and film soundtracks, including Grey’s Anatomy and box-office smash, The Fault in Our Stars. It sold more than a million copies worldwide and notched up streaming figures in the hundreds of millions.

Kodaline will play the Festival Big Top as part of Galway International Arts Festival 2018 on Thursday, July 19, in a Festival-Róisín Dubh co-production. Alternative rock band Walking on Cars and indie Canadian outfit Caribou have already been announced for shows at this year’s Big Top.

■ Tickets for Kodaline will go on sale this Friday priced at €47.50, from www.giaf.ie and roisindubh.net.
