Pensioner Lay Dying For Hours

A GALWAY pensioner, who was struck by a car in a hit and run incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, could have been saved if he had received medical attention soon after the accident.

Pakie Lynch from Caherlea, Corrandulla, lay unconscious for hours after being hit by the car. When eventually found around eight hours later, ambulance personnel triedunsuccessfully to revive the 65 year old who had been struck by a car while walking home from his local pub.

The car did not remain at the scene of the accident and a woman in her 30s was subsequently arrested and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Lynch, a bachelor farmer, went for his couple of pints of Guinness on Saturday night — as, indeed, he did most nights. The conversation in Peggy’s Bar invariablyrevolved around football as he was an avid fan of both Galway and Annaghdown football.
