PEACE MARCH FOR PALESTINIANS TO GET UNDERWAY IN THE CITY
Date Published: 09-Jan-2009
A peace march in solidarity with the Palestinian people of Gaza will get underway in the city within the next hour. (2pm 9/1)
A host of voluntary bodies have come together under the umbrella “Galway Unite” in response to the ongoing Israeli ground offensive in Gaza.
The fighting continues despite a UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
People are being asked to assemble in the Westside Library car park at 2pm, the time when Galway’s Muslims finish their prayers.
They will walk with a banner calling for an end to the onslaught against the Palestinian people to a rally in Shop Street.
“Galway Unite” is also calling on the Irish Government to break off diplomatic and economic ties with Israel.
