The PDs Ciaran Cannon has secured a Seanad seat as appointed by An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern

Speculation had been mounting to see who would secure the Taoiseach’s nomination in Galway

Former Mayor of Galway Niall O Brolcháin and City Councillor Michael Crowe had orginally been mooted as possible recipients of a seat

However neither two were chosen by the Taoiseach who announced his list of nominees for the Seanad in the past hour
