A pay dispute between the Health Service Executive and perfusionists at University Hospital Galway could result in a threat to cardiac surgeries.

A perfusionist is a specialised technician who operates artificial circulation equipment to keep the body functioning during heart surgery.

Chairman of the HSE West Health Forum, Councillor Padraig Conneely is urging the HSE to resolve the issue with the three experts at UHG.
