Pat Kinevane returns with wonderful Silent

Pat Kinevane’s wonderful one-man play, Silent which was a hit at the Galway Arts Festival when it played at Druid Theatre two years ago will return to the city’s Town Hall Theatre next Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21.

It’s a beautiful, sensitive and frequently very funny exploration into the life of Cork-born Tino McGoldrig, a homeless man once had splendid things. But he has lost it all – including his mind and now lives on the streets of Dublin where he offers brilliant observations on what it’s like to depend on the kindness of strangers, to be  a ‘hopeless, helpless, in-the-way person’.

Tino, as performed by Pat Kinevane, dives into the wonderful wounds of his past through the romantic world of Rudolph Valentino, in this beautiful production from Fishamble:The New Play Company.

Directed by Jim Culleton with a brilliant soundscape created by Denis Clohessy, Silent won Fringe First and Herald Angel awards at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and an Argus Angel at the 2012 Brighton Festival.

It is continuing to wow audiences at home and in the UK and USA as it tours extensively. New York Times theatre critic Ben Brantley described it as a “passionate one-man show… stunning” while The Guardian praised its dazzling theatricality and The Scotsman remarked on Kinevane’s ‘unflinching, intensely physical performance’.

Dublin based Fishamble is a multi-award winning company dedicated to creating new work for the theatre.  Recent productions presented on major Irish and international tours include Tiny Plays for Ireland by 25 writers, The Pride of Parnell Street by Sebastian Barry, and Forgotten also by Pat Kinevane.

Booking for Silent next Thursday and Friday is now open at the Town Hall Theatre box office, online at tht.ie or at 091 569777.
