Passenger numbers increase at Connemara airport
Galway Bay fm newsroom – There was an increase of almost 4 and a half per cent on passenger numbers at Connemara Airport, or Aerfort na Minne, last year.
According to figures from the Central Statistics Office, just over 20 thousand 300 people travelled through the airport in Inverin in 2013.
This compares to almost 19 and a half thousand the previous year..
The airport in Inverin is not the only airport to have experienced an increase in passenger numbers last year.
The airport on Inis Mór saw a slight increase of 2.2 percent, with almost 12 thousand 400 people using the facility.
Figures released by the CSO show that passenger numbers at Aerfort na Minne have been growing steadily since 2011.
Galway Airport, which ceased operating in 2011, had a figure of 67 thousand passenger numbers that year.
Nationally 25 million passengers passed through Irish airports last year, an overall increase of 4 percent.
