PARK N RIDE NEEDED FOR UHG ACCORDING TO GALWAY TD

A Park n’ Ride facility is needed for University Hospital Galway and not more parking, according to Galway West T.D Frank Fahey.

Deputy Fahey was speaking at the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport which took place in Galway yesterday.

As Chairperson of the committee, Frank Fahey invited the Director of the Dublin Transportation Office, John Henry to address the meeting.

Mr. Henry demonstrated a scheme called ‘One Small Step’ which is operating in Dublin, encouraging businesses to do their part to reduce congestion.

Deputy Fahey believes a park n’ ride system to such places as the hospital and university would be far more beneficial than building more car parks.

Deputy Fahey says if there was an efficient, reliable bus service, people would use it.
