Parents’ campaign for traffic calming succeeds

PARENTS of children attending the national school in Castlegar were delighted to see diggers and workmen starting work on traffic calming measures last week.

Castlegar Connect was formed last year to highlight local concerns about the School Road in their area being used as a rat run between the Tuam Road and the Headford Road.

Speeding traffic was a particular concern to parents delivering and collecting school children. The group held public meetings, canvassed all local public representatives and met with City Council officials but probably the most effective tool was a………………………….
