Marine officials are waiting on the completion of paperwork before two Aran ferries can be loaded onto a cargo ship at Galway docks.

The 7,000 tonne ‘Thor Gitta’ has been placed under arrest by order of the High court, meaning it cannot set sail from its present location.

However, crew can still legally load the ferries onto the ship, once all the paperwork has been submitted.

Harbour Master, Brian Sheridan says he is doubtful the ferries will be loaded this evening, and the cargo ship has been shifted to another berth at the Galway docks.
