Pam celebrates our unique boglands
Boglands – A New Cut, by artist Pam Dolan, which is currently running at the Town Hall Theatre, is an exhibition of contemporary work in oils and acrylics.
Opened by the well-known painter Brian Burke last Friday, this collection from Mayo-born, Galway-based Pam, will run until November 7. The graduate of GMIT and Limerick School of Art and Design is inspired by familiar, realistic and remembered landscapes and is particularly drawn to bogs and their unique terrain, something she attributes to growing up in Mayo.
After graduating with distinction from GMIT in 1987, Pam spent some years practising her art in Australia. Returning to Ireland, she continued her studies at Limerick School of Art and Design, before becoming a teacher in the Presentation Secondary School in Galway City.
Pam took a career break in 2016 and has been painting full time since, working on commissions while also building up a body of work for local and national exhibitions. Earlier this year, she was selected as one of the Mayo artists whose work was exhibited as part of the ‘Made of Mayo’ art exhibition.
Her work is also on display at Kennys Art Gallery, Lahinch.
Boglands in at the Town Hall until Wednesday, November 7.
