Owners of disused city hotel urged to take action
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The owners of the disused Corrib Great Southern Hotel in the city are being urged to take action to stamp out anti-social behaviour at the facility.
It’s after a fire broke out at the dilapidated property on the Dublin Road last evening, the second such blaze this year.
Independent City Cllr Terry O’Flaherty says local residents are concerned that such fires could spread to their homes.
She says the building is left wide-open to juvenilles and needs full-time security.
Glenamaddy-born brothers Luke and Brian Comer bought the former hotel for just over €3.5 million earlier this year.
Cllr O’Flaherty told Galway Talks that the new owners need to take action to develop, secure or sell the facility.
