Overall attendance for Race Week down slightly

Attendance over the seven days of the Summer Festival at Ballybrit Racecourse was almost on a par with last year, despite some poor weather conditions.

A total of 138,945 people passed through the turnstiles this week – that’s down by 1,189 (less than 1%) from the 140,114 for Race Week last year.

Attendance and betting were up for the final day of racing today.

A total of 13,926 passed through the turnstiles for Mad Hatters  Day – that’s up around 10% (1,230) on the 12,696 for the Sunday races last year.

The Tote was up by almost 50% – from €528,601 last year to €783,618, a difference of more than €255,000.

Bookies’ turnover also saw an increase today, up 18% from €626,986 to €741,477.
