The Featured Readers for November’s Over the Edge: Open Reading are Annemarie Ní Churreáin, Maurice Devitt and Amy Barrett.

It will take place in Galway City Library on Thursday, November 22, from 6.30-8pm and there will be an open-mic after the Featured Readers have finished. New readers are always welcome.

Cavan-based Amy Barrett is a third-year creative writing student at NUIG, focusing mostly on poetry and novels. The winner of the 2015 Windows National Poetry prize, she is currently the Auditor of NUIG’s Writers’ Society.

Maurice Devitt’s debut poetry collection, Growing Up in Colour, was published earlier this year by Galway’s Doire Press.

An MA graduate in Poetry Studies from Mater Dei, he won the 2015 Trócaire/Poetry Ireland Competition.

Selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions in 2016, Maurice was a featured poet at the Poets in Transylvania Festival in 2015 and a guest speaker at the John Berryman Centenary Conference in Dublin and Minneapolis. He is curator of the Irish Centre for Poetry Studies site.

Annemarie Ní Churreáin’s debut poetry collection, Bloodroot, was shortlisted for the Shine Strong Award for best first collection in Ireland and for the 2018 Julie Suk Award in the USA. It was published by Doire Press.
