Over 2000 Galway farmers facing delay in agricultural payments
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Almost 2500 farmers in Galway are facing delayed agricultural payments.
Roscommon South Leitrim TD Denis Naughten says the situation is ‘completely unacceptable’ and is made worse as farmers were promised during the fodder crisis that payments would be prioritised.
He adds the delay in monies from the Department of Agriculture could cause severe financial hardship for many families.
Meanwhile, over 730 Galway farmers are still waiting for their disadvantaged area payments.
Deputy Naughton says at a minimum an interim payment should be issued to such farmers.
