OVER 1600 CANCER CASES RECORDED IN GALWAY

Over 1600 cases of cancer have been diagnosed in Galway in the last 15 years.

A report compiled by the National Cancer Registry show that skin cancer was the most common form detected in Galway patients.

Nationally, the number of cancer cases in Ireland each year has increased by almost 50 percent since the mid 1990s.

The report also shows that overall survival rates across the country are improving.
