OVER 100 GALWAY BLACKSPOTS TO BE TARGETED FOR SPEEDING

Over 500 kilometres of Galway roads will be targetted by new Garda mobile speed detectors.

123 accident blackspots have been identified around the county and are published on the Garda website, garda dot ie.

Eight new mobile ‘Gatso’ vans with hi-tech devices will be taking to the roads from today in a bid to cut speeding and reduce deaths.

Galway makes up approximately one seventh of the 700 nationwide areas being targeted.

The new state-of-the-art vans are being unveiled today by the Garda Commissioner and the Justice Minister Dermot Ahern in Templemore.
