“Outstanding contributions to Galway life”

THERE was a diversity of reasons behind the selection of each of the eleven winners of this year’s Rehab Galway People of the Year Awards but they also all shared one common achievement — they made life better in the county during 2007.
The 13th annual awards presentation ceremony, compèred by Keith Finnegan of Galway Bay FM, took place on Friday in the Clayton Hotel, in front of 450 guests.
Among the winners were Dr Kieran Daly,Raymond Rooneyand Neil Johnson, who were jointly awarded a Galway Person of the Year Award for making a difference to the lives of everyone in the West by founding and leading the specialist heart charity Croí.
Brendan O’Connor of Oranswell was honoured for his great leadership and drive in the foundation of the internationally-renowned Cois Cladaigh choir in the 1980s.
James Harris of Galway was recognised for his sterling work, imagination and fundraising efforts for the most vulnerable in society.
