OUTBREAK OF WINTER VOMITING BUG AT PORTIUNCULA HOSPITAL

An outbreak of the winter vomiting bug at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe has to led to the closure of one ward.

The HSE says the ward has been closed to further admissions and the outbreak may be down to a viral infection.

An outbreak control committee along with hospital management have put a number of measures in place to stop the spread of the virus.
