Flashback: the Ed Sheeran concert in the Stadium

From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Organisers are remaining tight-lipped about a second concert planned for Pearse Stadium this summer.

The Black Eyed Peas have already been announced as a headline act for ‘Rise Live’ on the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Now, festival promoters Grooveyard/Entertainers.ie have applied to Galway City Council for a two-day festival licence for the Salthill venue – Saturday, June 4 from 5pm to 10.30pm and the following day from 3pm to 10.30pm.

The application to the Council indicates that the second of the two days will be geared towards families and will include “a selection of Irish Country and Irish Folk artists”.

Acts for this second planned concert have not yet been confirmed. Grooveyard said it will be announcing details “shortly”.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the promoters confirmed to the Galway City Tribune that support acts for the Black Eyed Peas will be announced next week. Tickets for the American group, whose hits include ‘Shut Up’, ‘Let’s Get It Started’, ‘I Got a Feeling’ and ‘Where is the Love’, went on sale in December.
